“We, Robot”: Tesla sent out invitations to the robotaxi presentation on October 10

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has touched on the topic of robotaxis several times this year and hinted that his company intends to release a self-driving car to transport passengers. The presentation was originally supposed to take place in August, but was later postponed to October 10. Now the company has started sending out invitations to the event.

The invitation says the presentation is titled “We the Robot” and will feature the company’s “future of autonomy.” Very little is known about Tesla’s robotaxi itself: if you believe previous hints, the car does not have a steering wheel or pedals, and in appearance it looks like a Cybertruck pickup truck. The company briefly showed the interior of a robotaxi in a video, and recently a photo of a prototype was leaked online, which was tested at the Warner Bros. site, where the event will take place.

The most important aspect of the presentation promises to be the autopilot system. Musk has been promising Tesla owners for several years now that their electric cars with software updates will gradually acquire full-fledged autopilot, but this has not yet happened, and there is an opinion that this task is unattainable with existing equipment. The release of a car completely devoid of traditional controls can both refute and confirm this thesis.
