In 2027, the German automaker Volkswagen is expected to launch a compact electric car priced at €20,000 on the European market. A detailed look at its specifications has been postponed until this fall, but for now the automaker has published design sketches of the ID. EVERY1 concept, which will be the forerunner of the brand’s most affordable electric car of the new generation.

Strictly speaking, the ultra-compact up! electric car already existed in the Volkswagen lineup, the ID. EVERY1 even borrowed some of its exterior touches, but the new car is a whole 280 mm longer than its predecessor, and with a body length of 3880 mm, it is only slightly shorter than the current generation Polo (4074 mm) or the upcoming ID. 2all electric car (4050 mm), which will debut next year and will be offered in Europe at a price of 25,000 euros.
The ID. EVERY1 model may change its designation by the time serial production begins in 2027, but it is already known that it will be built on the new FWD MEB platform for electric vehicles with front-wheel drive. A single traction electric motor with a power of 95 hp will transmit torque to the front axle.
The capacity of the traction battery should be enough for 250 km of travel, although the exact conditions for measuring it are not specified. The maximum speed will be limited to 130 km/h, which should be quite enough for urban use.
Since electric cars allow for a fairly free interior layout, the ID. EVERY1 has room not only for four people, but also for 305 liters of luggage.
In addition, the wide possibilities of interior transformation provide for folding not only the two rear seats, but also the front right one. This will allow, if necessary, to place some long item in the interior.
It is noted that the ID. EVERY1 will be created in cooperation with a certain partner or even several of them. In this context, Volkswagen’s alliance with China’s XPeng and the American Rivian comes to mind, both of which are regional manufacturers of electric vehicles that have expressed their willingness to share technologies with the German partner.
The car will use a completely updated software platform that will allow the functionality of the electric car to be updated throughout its entire service life. Volkswagen will also build a number of other compact front-wheel drive electric cars on this same modular hardware platform, including the ID. 2all, which is scheduled to debut next year.
