Vivo has unveiled a mixed reality headset called Vivo Vision at the Boao Forum for Asia (BAF). The new product is positioned as a direct competitor to the Apple Vision Pro headset. Plans to release Vivo Vision were first announced back in December last year.

The Vivo Vision device on display at BAF is blue and features a single-loop headband like the Apple Vision Pro. The headset also has a light seal, but it’s unclear how exactly it attaches to the device — magnetically, like the Apple Vision Pro, or if it’s non-removable.
On the left side of the device is a power cable connected to a battery of the same blue color as the headset itself. On the front side of the gadget are several cameras and sensors, two of which are facing downwards. Vivo Vision also has two buttons under the right temple and some kind of regulator on the left temple, reminiscent of an enlarged digital crown.
Unfortunately, Vivo does not disclose the technical characteristics of Vivo Vision. The official announcement of the device is expected in the middle of this year. Probably, before that moment, some details about the new product will be learned from leaks. Of particular interest is the software platform under which Vivo Vision operates. Whether it is Android XR or another operating system is still unknown.
Samsung is set to release its first Android XR device this year. If the Vivo Vision headset also runs on this OS, then it will likely be released after the debut of the new product from Samsung. Otherwise, the announcement of the Vivo Vision may happen earlier.
It is also unknown at this point whether Vivo intends to bring this headset to market as a commercial product or whether the device is designed as an experimental concept, similar to projects by some other manufacturers.
