«Here it is: the world’s smartest AI, Grok 3, is now available for free (until our servers melt down). Try Grok 3 now “X Premium+ and SuperGrok users will have ‘extended access’ to Grok 3, as well as early access to advanced features like voice mode,” xAI announced on X’s social media. The new model outperforms competitors in tasks involving reasoning, math, computer coding, knowledge, and tasks involving following instructions, and also demonstrates high performance in a range of tests, xAI added. On the Chatbot Arena platform, Grok 3 received an Elo score of 1,402, higher than OpenAI GPT-4o (1,377) and Google Gemini 2.0 (1,385).

Grok 3 also received two new features: DeepSearch and Think. The former is a “powerful agent that can quickly synthesize key information, reason about conflicting facts and opinions, and extract clarity from complexity.” The latter was implemented using reinforcement learning at an “unprecedented scale”: the AI “learned to improve its problem-solving strategies, correct errors through backtracking, simplify steps, and apply knowledge gained during pre-training. Like a human, when solving a complex problem, it can spend anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes reasoning, often considering multiple approaches, testing its own solution, and evaluating how to meet the task’s requirements exactly,” xAI said.

Grok 3 is available as a mobile app, web version, and on the X platform. xAI plans to make the new model available via API in the near future, with both the standard AI version and the DeepSearch version being available.
