Taiwanese contract chip manufacturer TSMC will publish a full quarterly report only in a week, but the results for March already allow us to calculate how much the company earned in the first three months of 2025. According to preliminary data, TSMC’s revenue for the period increased by 42% to $25.5 billion.

This is slightly higher than analysts expected, according to Bloomberg. At the same time, preliminary results of the first quarter allow us to say that it was the period with the highest growth rate of TSMC’s revenue since 2022. This was facilitated not only by the boom in artificial intelligence systems, but also by customer concerns about the upcoming impact of customs duties in the United States. As a result, in the first quarter of this year, TSMC’s customers actively purchased semiconductor components in anticipation of their subsequent rise in price. At least in the American supply direction, this trend was clearly visible.

Recently, US President Donald Trump admitted that during negotiations with TSMC management regarding increased investment in the construction of factories in Arizona, he used the threat of raising taxes to 100%. It is difficult to say what exactly influenced TSMC representatives, but they announced their intention to increase capital expenditures in the US by $100 billion and build not only three additional factories for processing silicon wafers, but also two for testing and packaging chips using advanced methods.

A separate intrigue will remain until next week the TSMC forecast for revenue growth rates this year. Some analysts believe that it may be worsened relative to the current value at 25%. Up-to-date information on this topic will be provided only towards the end of next week.
