US President Donald Trump will hold the first cryptocurrency summit at the White House on March 7. The meeting will be attended by “founders and CEOs of companies, investors in the cryptocurrency industry, as well as members of the President’s Working Group on Digital Assets,” Bloomberg reports, citing a corresponding statement from the White House.

The summit will be chaired by businessman David Sacks and administered by Bo Hines, the executive director of the presidential task force. The task force plans to develop a clear regulatory framework for cryptocurrency investors, the report said.
Immediately after taking office, Trump signed an executive order creating a task force that included representatives from key departments. Among its tasks is advising the White House on digital asset policy and assessing the feasibility of creating a cryptocurrency fund. The task force includes representatives from the Treasury Department, the Justice Department, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
During the 2024 presidential campaign, Trump, who has previously called cryptocurrency a “fraud,” pledged to support the industry, promising to streamline regulation and ease oversight in the space. While he has yet to follow through on his promises, hosting a crypto summit marks a sharp departure from the previous administration’s hard-line approach to cryptocurrency regulation. Trump even launched a memecoin shortly before taking office and backed his sons’ cryptocurrency project, World Liberty Financial.
«The administration is committed to ensuring a clear regulatory framework, creating an environment for innovation, and protecting economic freedom,” the White House said in a statement.
