A Chinese overclocker with the pseudonym wytiwx set a new world record for overclocking a central processor, forcing the Intel Core i9-14900KF chip to run at 9121.61 MHz. Thus, the new result is only a few megahertz higher than the previous overclocking record set on the Core i9-14900KS by Swedish overclocker Jon “Elmor” Sandström in March 2024.

It is noteworthy that the CPU-Z Validator table of records at the time of preparation of this note indicated that Elmor is the only overclocker who managed to achieve CPU frequencies above 9 GHz. However, the page with the new wytiwx overclocking record is also present.

For the experiment, the Chinese enthusiast disabled all auxiliary E-cores and multi-threading technology on the Core i9-14900KF. Overclocking was carried out on the flagship motherboard Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Apex using one 16 GB DDR5 RAM module. The overclocking environment was the Windows 7 operating system.
Let us recall that the Core i9-14900KF contains a configuration of 24 cores (eight high-performance P-cores and 16 energy-efficient E-cores) with support for 32 virtual threads. It can automatically overclock to 6GHz with an efficient cooling system. This chip, despite the release of the new generation of Core Ultra 200S processors, is still the fastest gaming processor from Intel.

The overclocked Core i9-14900KF operated at a voltage of 1.387 V. Liquid helium was used to cool the chip. Under these conditions, the chip reached a frequency of 9121.61 MHz. The previous record, set by Elmor on the Core i9-14900KS, was 9117.75 MHz. Thus, the new result exceeds the previous one by only 3.86 MHz. Therefore, it is likely that Elmor will try to regain its lost crown in the near future.
