Retro Remake announced the beginning of the acceptance of pre -orders for the Superstation One game console, which is made in the first PlayStation style and has ports compatible with the original controller and cartridges. Unlike the “ancestor”, the Superstation One is built on FPGA and natively supports games for various prefixes – from Atari 5200 and NES to PlayStation and Sega Saturn.
«Introducing SuperStation. An open source PS1 FPGA gaming console that supports original games, cartridges and controllers. Loading games from disk or backup. Regional independence. Supports all MiSTer FPGA cores, including N64 and Sega Saturn,” Taki Udon from Retro Remake wrote on social network X.
Mister (also known as Mister FPGA) is an open source project, the purpose of which is to recreate various classic computers, gaming consoles and arcade machines using modern equipment based on FPGA.
The Master project allows the software and video games to work in the same way as on original prefixes and computers, using peripheral devices, such as mice, keyboard, joysticks and other gaming controllers. This means that instead of emulating game consoles, the hardware of the Supertation One can actually function as the original Atari 5200, Nes, PlayStation and Sega Saturn consoles.
Retro Remake currently offers the system in black, gray and translucent blue. It comes with a 64GB microSD card and has three USB Type-A ports, an Ethernet port, and an NFC reader that can be used to run certain games. The USB Type-C port is used to power the set-top box.
SuperStation One is equipped with HDMI, VGA, DIN10, composite and component ports for compatibility with a wide range of peripherals. The set-top box has a 3.5 mm audio jack and digital audio output. The expansion slot provides support for Retro Remake’s SuperDock accessory, which includes a slot-loading drive, an M.2 2280 SSD bay, and four more USB Type-A ports.
According to Udon, SuperStation One is planned to be “fourth quarter or earlier.” This is the first console from Retro Remake, but the company is not going to stop there. Among the products already released is a set for the independent modernization of the Nintendo Switch Lite to the OLED display.
Despite the short pre-order period, the $149.99 Founders Edition has already sold out, but orders are still being accepted for the standard $179.99 SuperStation One. The SuperDock is not yet available for pre-order, but you can reserve it with a $5 deposit when you order your SuperStation One.
