The streets of China began to be patrolled by a robocop-gingerbread man – he can swim and can catch violators

The Chinese company Logon Technology has created a robot policeman to pursue violators. The ball-shaped robot is a 125-kg unicycle that accelerates to 35 km/h in 2.5 seconds. The robot is capable of knocking down and even catching an intruder in a net with a shot from an on-board weapon.

The company began testing the Rotunbot RT-G robot in a commercial area of the city of Wenzhou, located in Zhejiang province on the southeast coast of China, in the process of jointly patrolling the area with police officers. In the video, one of the patrolmen controls the robot while moving together. At the same time, the footage recorded the moment of the robot’s independent actions when approaching the criminal and moving over rough terrain.

Rotunbot RT-G can freely overcome water obstacles. It is floating and sealed. The device can withstand a fall from a height of half a meter and is capable of rolling down the stairs (but most likely it will not be able to climb). Upon contact with an intruder, the robot gives warning signals and can release a stream of tear gas or shoot a net. Finally, a collision with it at a speed of 30 km/h or even lower is unlikely to leave anyone indifferent. According to the developer, the robot is able to distinguish between obstacles and people so as not to touch random witnesses or furnishings.
