According to Gartner, the revenue of the semiconductor industry, according to the results of last year, reached $ 626 billion, which corresponds to an increase of 18.1 %. This year, the amount may increase to $ 705 billion, and for now, NVIDIA continues to use the benefits of the AI-BUM, rising to third place from the fifth among the largest suppliers of semiconductor products in the world.
Intel’s failures, as noted in the Gartner report, forced the company to give in first place to the long -standing South Korean rival in the person of Samsung Electronics. The latter managed to increase the revenue by the results of 2024 by 62.5 % to $ 66.5 billion, but Intel, in the context of stagnation of its financial indicators, remained second with $ 49.2 billion revenue. In third place is Nvidia, which itself does not release the chips, but is engaged in their implementation. Her revenue according to the results of last year increased by 83.6 % to $ 46 billion. As you might guess, while maintaining such a dynamics, NVIDIA can also squeeze Intel in the foreseeable perspective.
The successes of SK Hynix are also closely related to the boom of artificial intelligence systems, because this South Korean company is the main supplier of the HBM3E memory for the needs of NVIDIA. These are very expensive products, so SK Hynix revenue has grown over the past year by 86 % to $ 42.8 billion. A year before, SK Hynix was content with the sixth place in the ranking.
Qualcomm from third place slid to the fifth, its revenue last year only increased by 10.7 % to $ 32.3 billion, but in conditions of weak demand for smartphones and this can be considered a good increase. A serious leap was made by the American Micron Technology, which also provides NVIDIA with an advanced memory of HBM3E. The revenue of this memory supplier last year increased by 72.7 % to $ 27.8 billion, which allowed Micron to cross from 12th to 6th place.
Boadcom sank from fourth place to the seventh, but she also demonstrated the revenue growth of 7.9 % to $ 27.6 billion. AMD, which was fixed in eighth place with an increase in the revenue of 7.4 % to $ 24 billion, also sank to the position below. for one line, and now takes the ninth place from 4.6 % of the revenue growth to $ 18.9 billion. Finally, the ten Infineon Technologies closes with a drop in revenue by 6 % to $ 16 billion. By the way, outside the first dozens are market players that control 43.9 % of world revenue. Their total revenue for last year increased by 4.3 % to $ 275 billion.
The memory sector as a whole demonstrated an increase in revenue by 71.8 % according to the results of last year, it provided a quarter of all the income from the sale of semiconductor products in the world. The DRAM direction increased the revenue by 75.4 %, it also includes the memory of the HBM family, which formed 16.3 % of specialized revenue in the DRAM sector. Nand solid -state memory added 75.7 %in revenue.
Typically, the types of products that were not related to memory last year accounted for 74.8 % of all the revenue of the semiconductor sector, and at the same time the growth of relevant revenue was limited to 6.9 %. This year, as GARTner representatives expect, HBM will account for at least 19.2 % of the revenue in the DRAM segment. In monetary terms, the HBM direction will grow by 66.3 % to $ 19.8 billion.
Last year, the semiconductor revenue was moved up by graphic processors for calculations, but by the share of revenue they lost to the direction of smartphones, taking second place. The revenue in the data centers segment has almost doubled, to $ 112 billion. Of the 25 largest suppliers of semiconductor products, only 8 demonstrated a decrease in revenue last year. For eleven suppliers, the revenue growth was measured by two -digit values in percent.
