The OpenAi board of directors unanimously rejected the offer of the Mask to buy a startup for $ 97.4 billion

The situation with the attempt of Ilon Musk (Elon Musk), with the support of the investor consortium, buy Openai startup for $ 97.4 billion by the end of the week to grow in new details. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Openai, Bret Taylor) admitted on Friday that this body of the board nevertheless received a Mask’s proposal and unanimously voted against.

Earlier this week, confusion arose with the procedure for filing such applications, which allowed representatives of Openai until Friday to argue that the board of directors of the startup did not receive official offers from the mask representatives. After the communications were streamlined, the chairman of the board of directors Openai wrote on the pages of the X social network: “Openai is not sold, the board of directors unanimously rejected the recent attempt of Mr. Mask to undermine competition.” Taylor also added that any upcoming Openai reorganization will strengthen the non -profit component of the startup and its mission to achieve universal good for humanity using strong artificial intelligence (AGI).

Recall that the initial reaction to the proposal of Mask was previously published by the Director General of OpenAI Sam Altman. He rejected the proposal of a former ally, ironically noting that Openai instead can buy a social network of X, previously known as Twitter belonging to the mask, for $ 9.74 billion.

The successes of Openai, at the origins of which he stood, but left by 2018, has haunted the mask since at least 2023. He founded the competing company XII, and in 2024 he consistently filed two claims to the leadership of Openai, which in one form or another accuse him of a retreat from the non -profit essence of the organization. He recalled his first lawsuit after representatives of Openai released a correspondence with a magician, in which he agreed with the idea that a startup would need serious funding, and he must somehow earn.

This week, Musk said that he would refrain from buying Openai if he refuses the planned restructuring plan in order to switch to commercial rails. After the formal refusal of the board of directors of Openai, lawyer Mask Mark Toberoff reproached the startup board of illogical behavior. According to him, the Board of Directors wants to sell Openai “to itself” at a price of several times the smaller one that Musk offers. How this should benefit “to the whole of humanity”, the lawyer Mask refuses to understand.
