The promising Apple iPhone 17 Air smartphone will have significantly less battery life than previous generations of iPhone due to its ultra-thin body. The company plans to compensate for this shortcoming with a special battery case.

According to MacRumors, internal tests showed that only 60-70% of users could use the iPhone 17 Air all day without recharging. For comparison, this figure is 80-90% for other iPhone models. The decrease in battery life is due to the device’s record-thin design, which is only 5.5 mm thick.
To solve the battery life problem, Apple is supposedly planning to release a special charging case for the iPhone 17 Air as an additional accessory. It will not only protect the smartphone, but also significantly extend its operating time. Interestingly, the last time Apple released such cases was for the iPhone 11, and then introduced the MagSafe Battery Pack for the iPhone 12 and newer models (later the accessory was removed from sale).
In addition, it became known that the basic configuration of the iPhone 17 Air will receive only one speaker, one camera, and will also be deprived of a SIM card slot. The presentation of the iPhone 17 Air is expected to take place in September 2025, but there is no specific information yet whether the battery case will be included in the basic configuration or will be sold separately.
It is also reported that Apple suppliers are not yet sure about the level of demand for this model due to its unique form factor. In this regard, at the initial stage of iPhone 17 Air production, they plan to allocate no more than 10% of their available capacities for its assembly.
