Yesterday, Huawei officially launched the Mate XT Ultimate Design in China, the world’s first mass-produced smartphone that folds in two places. Now the first videos demonstrating the capabilities of the device in action have begun to appear on the Internet.

Judging by numerous unboxings, Huawei Mate XT comes unfolded. In this state, it is only 3.6mm thick at its thinnest point, making it thinner than the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold (5.1mm) and other foldable smartphones. When folded, the Mate XT measures 12.8mm thick, which is slightly thicker than the Pixel 9 Pro Fold (10.1mm) and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 (12.1mm).

The resource GizmoChina has already tested the new product and published a review in which it is noted that the Mate XT can simultaneously run several applications, the windows of which are easily scaled and customized to the user’s needs. In addition, the Mate XT comes with a special case that protects the device when folded and also acts as a stand when unfolded.

In some videos, you may notice that when you switch from single-screen mode to dual-screen mode, a loading icon appears. However, the display responds to commands quite quickly, both when changing the screen orientation and when switching modes. The Android Authority portal noted that the folds on both folds of the display are clearly visible at a certain angle. While this may be a drawback for some users, overall it seems fine given the current state of flexible display technology. However, if you look at the screen directly, the folds are almost invisible.
