The first phase of the data center for the Stargate AI Magaproekt will cost only $ 1.1 billion

Official documents shed light on some aspects of the construction of the Stargate campus in Texas. The first stage of the data center is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 and cost $ 1.1 billion, Business Insider reports.

So far, there is not very much known about Stargate. Documents submitted to the Texas authorities indicate that the construction is registered under the name Project Ludicrus and is located at the address corresponding to the location of the Lancium Clean Campus – a section of 505 hectares in Abilin (Abilene) owned by Lancium. Recently, information has appeared that the campus will eat from gas and wind turbines, as well as a solar power plant.

The owner of Project Ludicrous is called Abilene DC 1 – the subsidiary of Crusoe Energy, which at the end of 2024 attracted $ 600 million for construction in Texas. According to publicly available official documents, the ABILENE DC 1 and located in Lancium Clean Campus is Oracle. The Contact person of the tenant Project Ludicrus in the documents also indicates the Oracle employee. From July to December 2024, representatives of the Project Ludicrous submitted four statements to the Texas regulator regarding the construction of two facilities.

The construction of the first, one-story facility with an area of ​​45 thousand m2 is estimated at $ 292 million. It began in June last year and should be completed by the summer of 2025. The documents also feature plans to create a premises for security, buildings for fire pumps, mechanical and electric cases. In the second statement filed in September 2024, we are talking about equipping $ 140 million – the work began in December and will probably be completed by September 15 of this year. The second object is completely similar to the first. Its construction began last fall and will end in September 2025. Equipment of the object will begin in March 2025 and will end by December 24, it is estimated at $ 384 million.

Lancium concluded an agreement on development with the authorities of Abilin in 2021. Initially, the Lancium Clean campus was designed for “green” mining data centers, but this project was never implemented. In November 2024, Crusoe Energy announced plans to create a 205-MWC of the Central Department Store for $ 3.4 billion on the territory of this campus, which has already been leased to an unnamed hyperskeler from the Fortune 100 list. It was expected that the “settlement” would begin in the first half of 2025. The fact that the tenant will be Oracle, which will surrender the capacity of Openai, was reported earlier.
