An annoying but rather funny mistake has been found on the back of the new OnePlus Watch 3 smartwatch. Instead of the standard “Made in China” inscription, “Meda in China” is engraved. The typo was recorded on all devices of the first batch. And such a mistake cannot be fixed by a software update.

While the typo doesn’t affect the functionality of the device, it has attracted the attention of users and media outlets. A reporter from The Verge, who received a copy of the OnePlus Watch 3 for review, only noticed the error after the article was published on Android Police.

But this one is more of a joke. OnePlus has made far worse mistakes with its smartwatches, including the original OnePlus Watch. “The original OnePlus Watch was a total flop, the worst product I’ve ever tested in my career,” writes Victoria Song, who says its health and fitness tracking was so inaccurate it deserved a Pulitzer Prize for fiction.
The oddities didn’t end there. After the OnePlus Watch 2 was released, the company mistakenly sent a reporter eleven watches instead of one to review, and the rotating side crown didn’t scroll. Despite these annoyances, the OnePlus Watch 2 was a redemption story, as it not only worked, but also proved to be a great alternative to smartwatches from Google and Samsung for Android users.
After a “traumatic experience” with the previous OnePlus Watch, the reviewer was apprehensive about the Watch 3. However, testing has been going well so far, Song says, and the rotating crown works fine. Interestingly, some users even believe that the “Meda in China” typo means the first batch of watches can now be considered collectible.
