The era of red iPhones has come to an end — Apple has stopped producing gadgets (PRODUCT)RED

Apple’s (PRODUCT)RED product line has practically become history. There are no devices left in the signature red color, symbolizing the company’s charitable initiatives in support of the (RED) charity, MacRumors reports.

Since 2006, Apple has partnered with (RED) to raise money for The Global Fund, a charity that fights diseases like HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria in Africa. As part of the partnership, Apple offered a (PRODUCT)RED option on some of its products in its signature red color, with a portion of the proceeds going to the charity. However, as technology expert John Smith notes, “the availability of the color has steadily declined” in recent years.

Following the discontinuation of the iPhone SE, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus, some of which were offered in the iconic color, the (PRODUCT)RED brand is no longer available. Currently, the only products available in the lineup are a few cases for older iPhone models.

Now, Apple has begun using different branding for new Beats products available in red, specifically Statement Red and Transparent Red. The change in branding indicates a possible departure from the traditional (PRODUCT)RED strategy and, as financial analyst Mary Johnson points out, “may be related to Apple’s desire to differentiate its products or to a change in the terms of its partnership with (RED).”

While (PRODUCT)RED appears to be on its way out, Apple continues to support The Global Fund through its annual Apple Pay donation program, which last ran from November 29 to December 8, 2024. It’s possible the company may decide to renew the partnership in the future, but for now, the era of red Apple devices supporting the charity is coming to an end.
