The 2000-W Cooler Master X Mightly Platinum power supply goes on sale – it will power two GeForce RTX 4090 at once

Cooler Master has released the X Mightly Platinum 2000W power supply, equipped with two 12+4-pin 12V-2×6 power connectors for modern flagship video cards. It is available in China for $499.

Such powerful power supplies are certainly beyond the norm, especially since Nvidia has abandoned SLI arrays and gamers no longer need two graphics cards on the same machine. But in some cases, such as training large language models, running generative artificial intelligence applications, and resource-intensive rendering tasks, multiple graphics cards are still required on desktop computers. In such cases, you can work with a single power supply, as long as it is powerful enough to satisfy the needs of powerful components, such as a pair of Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090.

The solution to the problem turns out to be the Cooler Master X Mightly Platinum power supply with a power of 2000 W, presented back in January at the CES exhibition. It’s modular and offers compatibility with ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards, and also boasts a pair of modern 12V-2×6 power connectors – safer than 12VHPWR. Reviews have shown that the power supply operates with a low noise level of 30 dBA at 80% load (1600 W) and becomes silent at up to 40% load (800 W) when the fan is not turned on. However, there is no ability to manually enable or disable the Zero RPM function.

The new product meets the 80 Plus Platinum energy efficiency standard, offering efficiency above 94% at typical loads. The power supply has overvoltage protection (OVP), overpower protection (OPP), short circuit protection (SCP), undervoltage protection (UVP), overheating protection (OTP), and overcurrent protection (OCP).

In China, Cooler Master X Mightly Platinum is available for 3599 yuan ($499).
