Tesla shares jumped 9% amid rumors that Trump will speed up the advent of Autopilot

Having risen in price by 6.53% even before the start of the trading session, Tesla shares continued to rise after the opening of trading at 3.07%, fueled by rumors about the Donald Trump administration’s readiness to formulate clear rules at the federal level for the operation of self-driving cars on US roads. This activity should become one of the main priorities for the country’s Ministry of Transport.

The first information about the Donald Trump administration’s similar intentions appeared on Monday from Bloomberg News, which cited its own knowledgeable sources. Considering the close and beneficial interaction between US President-elect Donald Trump and Elon Musk in the run-up to the elections, it can be assumed that the emergence of clear rules of the game in the autopilot segment in transport will be beneficial to Tesla, which is headed by the billionaire.

Elon Musk with enviable consistency postpones the release of an autopilot that does not require driver intervention until the end of the next year, citing the growing complexity of solving such a technical problem. He recently admitted that Tesla electric vehicles equipped with third-generation autopilot equipment, which were delivered from 2016 to 2022, will still not have the ability to operate without a driver. The company is ready to replace the on-board computers of such vehicles with more modern ones at its own expense, but the FSD option itself must be paid for by the client.

The company expects to launch a self-driving taxi service in Texas and California next year. Advanced driver assistance features will become available to Tesla owners in Europe and China in the next half of the year, if no further difficulties arise in the implementation of these promises.

According to Bloomberg, Uber alumnus Emil Michael, as well as two Republican congressmen from Missouri and Louisiana, will help the US Department of Transportation create federal rules for operating self-driving cars. The selection of a team of legislators has already begun, according to sources.
