Tesla Optimus robots have learned to navigate unfamiliar spaces and have begun to understand people better

Today, humanoid robots Tesla Optimus received a package of updates promised at the recent presentation of Tesla Cybercab. Then the company was caught using telepresence, when operators remotely controlled “autonomous” robots. A new video shows that Tesla Optimus has learned to move more freely in familiar and even unfamiliar spaces, and can also communicate with people and provide them with services.

While moving through rooms, Tesla Optimus robots are able to download data about the situation from the memory of nearby brothers. This helps them move even in rooms where they have not been before. But this does not negate the fact that the computer vision system of a particular robot helps it explore the environment and, based on it, make movements. The robot can also search for charging points for its batteries and independently connect to them if necessary.

The robot with updated firmware showed the ability to place objects in containers (battery cells) and carry 25-kilogram boxes from place to place. He can climb stairs and understands people’s commands. These can also be gestures, as evidenced by the example of a robot with a tray of drinks and crackers. Interestingly, the robot refused to make direct contact with the buyer when he offered him a “high five” gesture.
