Tecno unveils budget smartphone Pova 6 Neo 5G with 108MP camera, AI and Dimensity 6300 chip

Tecno has unveiled the affordable Pova 6 Neo 5G smartphone, which boasts of a 108-megapixel camera, 5G connectivity and AI-powered features. The model also received a capacious battery, NFC and protection from dust and moisture.

Tecno, which earlier this year introduced the 4G version of the Pova 6 Neo smartphone, has announced the release of a 5G model. Despite the fact that the new product retained the name of its predecessor, it received a number of significant differences. Tecno Pova 6 Neo 5G is built on the Dimensity 6300 processor and is equipped with 6 or 8 GB of RAM, expandable up to 16 GB with built-in UFS 2.2 memory, the volume of which is 128 or 256 GB. The new product also received a slot for microSD memory cards.

The main difference of the 5G model, as GSMArena notes, is the 108-megapixel camera. The manufacturer does not disclose which sensor is used in the smartphone, but states that it has a three-fold digital zoom. “This is the first smartphone in this price segment equipped with such a camera,” the company emphasizes.

Tecno Pova 6 Neo 5G has a 6.67-inch IPS display with HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. For comparison, the 4G model features a 6.78-inch FHD+ display with a similar refresh rate. The battery capacity of the new product has also been reduced to the standard 5000 mAh versus 7000 mAh for its predecessor, as well as the fast charging power – from 33 W to 18 W. At the same time, the 5G version received dust and moisture protection according to the IP54 standard and an omnidirectional NFC antenna, which is rarely found in budget smartphones. The smartphone is also equipped with stereo speakers.

Despite the presence of 5G, Tecno is primarily positioning the new product as an “AI friend”, focusing on artificial intelligence functions. These include removing unwanted objects from photos and generating images.

The cost of the Tecno Pova 6 Neo 5G in the version with 6/128 GB of memory will be about $145/€130, and the version with 8/256 GB will cost $155/€140. The smartphone will be available in three colors: Azure Sky, Midnight Shadow and Aurora Cloud. Sales of Tecno Pova 6 Neo 5G will start on September 14.
