TCL 50 Pro Nxtpaper 5G and 50 Nxtpaper 5G smartphones received AI support from Microsoft, not Google

TCL presented the TCL 50 Pro Nxtpaper 5G and 50 Nxtpaper 5G smartphones at IFA 2024 in Berlin, which received support for large language models available in the Microsoft Azure OpenAI service with speech recognition. Smartphones also feature large displays with support for proprietary Nxtpaper technology, which ensures no glare and is comfortable for the eyes.

TCL says the partnership with Microsoft means user data will be stored on servers and data centers in the EU rather than transferred to the US or other regions, easing privacy concerns.

The TCL 50 Pro Nxtpaper 5G and 50 Nxtpaper 5G feature the same 6.8-inch Nxtpaper displays with a resolution of 2650 × 1080 pixels (396 ppi pixel density). The displays have a brightness of 550 cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 1500:1. Scratch protection is provided by curved 2.5D glass, complemented by an oleophobic coating that is effective against fingerprints.
