As a reminder, the new Street Fighter film adaptation was confirmed for spring 2023 and, according to an announcement last summer, was expected to premiere in American theaters on March 20, 2026.
According to Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline, Sony Pictures has pulled the new Street Fighter film from its upcoming theatrical release schedule. Now, the film has no release date at all.
It is worth noting that the agreement between Sony Pictures and Legendary Pictures on international distribution of films expired on December 31, 2024, and the parties did not enter into a new agreement.

The film was originally directed by brothers Danny and Michael Philippou, known for Talk to Me, but due to scheduling conflicts, the directors left the project.
They were replaced literally a month ago by Kitao Sakurai, who previously directed the film Bad Trip and four episodes of the Twisted Metal series (another video game adaptation).
It was previously reported that Capcom is actively involved in the production of a new film adaptation of Street Fighter. The cast and plot of the upcoming film are currently unknown.
