Sony has announced a film based on Helldivers 2, a replacement for Netflix’s Horizon Zero Dawn series and another film adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima

Sony Group Corporation, as part of its presentation at the Consumer Electronics Show 2025 (CES 2025), announced three new film adaptations of its video game franchises.

First, the head of PlayStation Productions, Asad Qizilbash, announced from the CES 2025 stage that Sony Pictures will release a film based on the co-op action movie Helldivers 2 from Arrowhead Game Studios.

Secondly, PlayStation Productions and Columbia Pictures are in the early stages of production on a film adaptation of the open-world action-adventure Horizon Zero Dawn. The film will tell about the development of the main character Aloy.

Thirdly, at CES 2025 it was announced that in addition to the film based on the samurai action film Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch Productions, it will also receive an animated series from Crunchyroll and Aniplex.

The show will be based on the Legends multiplayer mode and will be released in 2027 exclusively on Crunchyroll. The director will be Takanobu Mizuno, and the script will be written by Gen Urobuchi.
