Sonos unveils Arc Ultra soundbar with breakthrough Sound Motion technology for $999

Sonos has announced two new products at once: the Arc Ultra soundbar and the Sub 4 subwoofer, which will go on retail sale soon. The Arc Ultra is a more powerful version of the original Arc and is the first Sonos product to feature Sound Motion technology from startup Mayht, which became part of the company in 2022.

Sonos claims this technology delivers richer, more immersive sound than the original Arc. The company touts Sound Motion as “one of the most significant breakthroughs in audio technology in nearly 100 years” and says the technology “unlocks greater clarity, depth and balance than ever before.”

The Arc Ultra design houses 14 speakers, three more than the original Arc. The developers equipped the soundbar with seven tweeters, six midwoofers and a Sound Motion woofer. According to Sonos, the device is capable of producing 9.1.4-channel audio of the highest quality. Support for TruePlay EQ on Android is implemented, as well as Bluetooth connectivity. Improved voice reproduction. Like other Sonos devices, Arc Ultra can be paired with Sonos Ace headphones for personalized audio listening from any compatible device connected to the soundbar.

As for the Sub 4 subwoofer, its appearance is not much different from the previous generation model. According to Sonos, the changes affected the internal equipment of the device. The design uses two 8-inch low-frequency drivers that are directed inward to reduce distortion. The subwoofer also received an updated Wi-Fi module and support for synchronization with models of previous generations.

Both new items will go on sale this month. The Arc Ultra soundbar will retail for $999 and the Sub 4 subwoofer will retail for $799.
