The conversation between Elon Musk and former US President Donald Trump did not start very well the day before. The interview on the X Spaces platform was scheduled for 20:00 US East Coast time (August 13 at 3:00 Moscow time), but it was interrupted immediately after the start and resumed 42 minutes later.
Users of the social network X who were able to enter the Spaces audio room reported that the event began with music playing on Trump’s account for 30 minutes. 18 minutes after the interview was supposed to begin, Musk said that the platform was the target of a “massive DDoS attack”, due to which the Spaces section was unable to continue operating as usual.
At the same time, Platform X generally worked normally – as The Verge reports, citing a source in the administration of the social network, in reality there was no DDoS attack, and the probability that Musk’s statement is not true is “99%”. In a series of subsequent publications, the businessman reported that the system was tested for 8 million simultaneous listeners, and at the beginning of the interview, 915 thousand people connected to the audio room. He blamed the incident on political opponents of the former president, who decided to run for office again.
