The boom of artificial intelligence systems has inspired memory manufacturers of the HBM family, and the leading position in this market is now occupied by the South Korean SK hynix. The management of this company expresses confidence that high demand for memory chips will continue at least until the middle of next year. In the future, it may also remain high, but the company simply does not have sufficient data for such forecasts.

According to the Korean Economic Daily, SK hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung made the corresponding statements at a meeting with company employees last Wednesday. “The recovery in the memory market will continue until the end of the first half of next year. The demand for HBM has contributed to the turning point in the memory industry,” said the head of SK hynix literally. In the second quarter, the company’s operating income hit a six-year high of $3.96 billion, its operating profit margin rose to a record 33%, and revenue rose 124.7% year over year to $11.86 billion.
In addition to actively expanding production capacity for HBM, SK hynix intends to develop new types of products in a timely manner. This South Korean manufacturer expects to launch production of 12-layer HBM4 type microcircuits in the second half of next year. The head of SK hynix did not rush into forecasts for the second half of next year in terms of maintaining high demand dynamics, but the company explains this not by the presence of reasons to doubt its preservation, but simply by the remoteness of this period to ensure reliable forecasting.
