Sigma has announced the BF, a compact 24.6-megapixel full-frame interchangeable lens camera with an L-mount and a minimal set of controls: three buttons, one dial, and a shutter release button. The camera measures 129.5 x 73.7 x 35.6 mm and weighs just 388 grams. According to the manufacturer, the camera is designed to remove all distractions and “focus on the joy of photography” with a “radically simple” design.

Sigma claims to have created a simple, clear and completely new user interface that is significantly different from other modern cameras. The main settings related to photography are located on the start screen, additional settings are in a separate menu with quick access, and control functions and more detailed settings are in the system menu.
The Sigma BF is said to be the first mirrorless camera to feature haptic feedback on all controls, allowing photographers to easily adjust key settings such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO, exposure compensation and color mode with the touch of a finger.
The rear display, with a resolution of approximately 2.1 million pixels, shows only the bare minimum of information so that nothing stands between the photographer and the image. The currently active settings are displayed on the secondary screen.
The Sigma BF is, according to the manufacturer, the first camera in history to feature a “true one-piece body” that is made from a single piece of aluminum. This process takes seven hours, but the resulting camera body is incredibly rigid and lightweight.
The 24.6-megapixel sensor has an ISO range of 100 to 102,400, expandable down to ISO 6, 12, 25, and 50. The camera has a hybrid autofocus system with a subject detection mode. The Sigma BF can shoot video at up to 6K resolution at up to 29.97 fps, or 1080p Full HD at up to 119.88 fps.
The camera comes with a built-in 230GB SSD, which can store over 14,000 JPEG files, 4,300 uncompressed RAW images, or 2.5 hours of video at the highest quality settings. A USB Type-C port is used to connect to a computer and upload footage.
The Sigma BF offers 13 preset color modes that “open up new creative possibilities”: Standard, Rich, Calm, Powder Blue, Warm Gold, Teal, Orange, FOV Classic Blue, FOV Classic Yellow, Forest Green, Sunset Red, Cinema, 709 Look, and Monochrome.
The new product will be available in black or silver and is expected to go on sale by April 2025. Both versions will retail for $1,999.
Sigma has also updated its compact Series I prime lenses. These L-mount lenses will come in silver to match the silver finish of the BF.
