Sharp introduced the flagship smartphone Sharp Aquos R9 Pro with a triple camera and a large fingerprint scanner

The Japanese company Sharp introduced a new flagship smartphone Aquos R9 pro with an impressive camera and powerful characteristics. The main feature of the device is the Vario-Summicron camera, developed in collaboration with Leica, which includes three 50.3-megapixel cameras on the rear panel.

The main camera has a 1/0.98-inch sensor, which is larger than most flagships, and a 23mm (f/1.8) lens with support for optical image stabilization (OIS). In addition to this, as GSMArena reports, the Aquos R9 pro has a 65mm telephoto lens (f/2.6), which provides 2.8x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom. The telephoto lens is equipped with a 1/1.56-inch sensor and supports Dolby Vision video recording. The third camera has an ultra-wide-angle lens with a viewing angle of 122° and macro photography. There is a physical shutter button on the side.

The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, which was an unusual choice for a premium model since previous versions used flagship chipsets. RAM is 12 GB, built-in memory is 512 GB. For efficient cooling, a system with an evaporation chamber is used, which transfers heat to a ring around the chamber and dissipates it. Interestingly, this ring can also hold accessories such as lens filters.

The smartphone has built-in artificial intelligence functions. For example, AI can transcribe voice messages and display them as short text summaries, analyze phone calls, and add keywords to notes.

The Aquos R9 pro features a 6.7-inch Pro IGZO OLED display with QHD+ resolution and support for variable refresh rates from 1 to 240 Hz. The Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is built into the screen. The smartphone comes with Android 14 operating system and will receive updates for three years, as well as security patches for five years. The device supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and has an IP68 water and dust protection rating. The new product will first appear on the Japanese market in December, and then will be available in Taiwan, Indonesia and Singapore.
