Samsung will get rid of the Samsung DeX application for Windows in the new version of the One UI 7 shell for mobile devices. It allows you to duplicate the screen of a mobile device on a PC running Windows operating system. The app can also be used to easily transfer files (using drag and drop) between devices. Information about the end of support for DeX with the release of One UI 7 was discovered on the British Samsung website by the AndroidAuthority portal.

«DeX support for Windows PCs will end with the release of One UI 7. We encourage users to connect their devices to their PC through Link to Windows,” the company said in a statement.
Apparently, Samsung doesn’t see the point in supporting DeX, since Microsoft offers similar functionality as part of Windows, while being compatible not only with Samsung devices, but also with other Android devices from other manufacturers. According to Sammobile, the Connect to Windows app offers the same feature set and is more optimized than DeX.
DeX isn’t the only piece of software that will be removed from the new One UI 7. Once One UI 7 is installed, users will no longer be able to download new sidebars from the Galaxy Store.

Existing panels will remain in the “My Apps” section, but they will not be able to be installed again after removal.
