Samsung Shows World’s First QD-OLED Monitor with 500Hz Refresh Rate

This year, Samsung Display brought several OLED displays of different sizes to MWC 2025, which are aimed at different areas of application. The manufacturer presented a QD-OLED monitor with a refresh rate of 500 Hz, an OLED panel for laptops with a refresh rate of 240 Hz, and other new products. The vendor also showed a prototype of a three-fold foldable smartphone and a prototype of a portable gaming console with a flexible display.

The biggest buzz was about the “world’s first 27-inch QD-OLED monitor with a 500Hz refresh rate.” This device promises gamers super-fast refresh rates, ultra-high responsiveness, and rich colors in games. Rumors of the upcoming launch of such a monitor appeared in Korean media as early as November last year. Perhaps the demonstration of this device at MWC will bring it closer to the market.

The company has organized a Seamless Color Studio exposition, where visitors can appreciate the exceptional quality of OLED displays on devices of different form factors. It also showcases an OLED panel with Samsung’s proprietary On-Cell Film (OCF) technology, which eliminates optical filters that increase contrast but significantly reduce panel brightness.

By removing the optical filter, Samsung has achieved a significant increase in brightness and energy efficiency. As a result, the brightness of the OLED panel reaches an ultra-high 5,000 cd/m², which is approximately 1.5 times higher than that of standard OLED panels.
