Samsung introduced the Galaxy Book5 Pro laptop based on Intel Lunar Lake processors (Core Ultra 200V). These chips are equipped with NPUs with AI performance of 47 TOPS, thanks to which the device offers access to two sets of AI tools at once – Samsung’s Galaxy AI and Microsoft’s Copilot+.
The Galaxy Book5 Pro is the first device in the Galaxy Book5 family to feature Galaxy AI-powered AI Select, similar to Google’s Circle to Search tool, but using technology from the South Korean manufacturer. To start a search using it, just circle an image or piece of text on your laptop’s touch screen. AI Select can also be used for optical character recognition (OCR) and copying text from images, as well as QR code scanning.
Galaxy Book5 Pro is available in 14- and 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X touchscreens with Vision Booster technology for improved visibility in bright environments and anti-glare coating.
The laptop’s webcam is the first to use Staggered HDR technology, which combines multiple different exposures into a single image with wide dynamic range. This is a common feature on smartphones, but is rarely used in webcams.
Four speakers with Dolby Atmos technology provide surround sound. According to the company, the battery capacity is enough to operate the device for up to 25 hours. The laptop’s connectivity options include two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, a USB-A port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card slot. Body color: gray or silver.
The laptop supports Microsoft’s Phone Link app for connecting to Android smartphones. Galaxy device owners will be able to take advantage of special features such as Multi Control (use the keyboard and mouse to control phones and tablets), Second Screen (use your tablet as a second monitor) and Quick Share (move files, photos and documents between Galaxy devices).
More detailed specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro will likely be presented soon. The laptop will go on sale in South Korea on January 2. The price of the device will be known a little later.
