Samsung has unveiled its thinnest foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold SE, with a large screen and a $2,000 price tag.

This week, Samsung Electronics once again proved its commitment to expanding the range of smartphones with a foldable display by introducing the Galaxy Z Fold SE to the South Korean market, which became the thinnest and lightest device in the line. The display diagonal is also increased compared to the Galaxy Z Fold6 model, and the new product also received more RAM and a 200-megapixel camera.

In South Korea, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold SE smartphone will be offered at a price of more than $2,000 (2,789,600 Korean won), but company representatives are confident that it will find a sufficient number of buyers in the home market. The smartphone is still powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile processor, but now it is combined with 16 GB of RAM versus 12 GB of its predecessor, which should speed up work with artificial intelligence tasks. The amount of flash memory was 512 GB.

The internal display of the device, which is foldable, has increased its diagonal dimensions from 7.6 to 8.0 inches, and the external one from 6.3 to 6.5 inches. The proportions of the latter are determined by the ratio 21:9, which makes it easier to operate the interface with one hand. The internal display when unfolded has an aspect ratio of 20:18 versus 4:3 for its predecessor. The smartphone body, combining glass and metal panels, will be available in a single black color, Black Shadow.

The thickness of the case was reduced by one and a half millimeters to 10.6 mm, and it was also possible to reduce the weight by three grams (to 236 g), which allows the Galaxy Z Fold SE smartphone to be considered the thinnest and lightest in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold model line. In addition, it is equipped with the largest display among its peers.

The appearance of a 200-megapixel camera also allows the new product to stand out from other models in the family. This camera is accompanied by sensors of 12 and 10 megapixels, respectively; selfies are taken by a combination of cameras with a resolution of 10 and 4 megapixels, respectively. With overall folded dimensions of 157.9 × 72.8 × 10.6 mm, the smartphone boasts a battery with a capacity of 4400 mAh. The operating system is Google Android 14 with One UI 6.1.1 interface.

The Galaxy Z Fold SE will go on sale on October 25, and Samsung promises to provide discounts on the purchase of the Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra to South Korean customers who purchase it before December 31.
