Samsung announced the release of gaming monitors, which it showed at CES 2025. The brand’s Odyssey series was expanded with a 27-inch Odyssey 3D model with support for three-dimensional image output that does not require the use of special 3D glasses. Also released were the 27-inch 4K OLED Odyssey G8 monitor and the ultra-wide 49-inch Odyssey G9 model. At the same time, the company released the professional ViewFinity S8 monitor.

The Odyssey 3D (G90XF) monitor supports 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 165 Hz. The display is capable of reproducing a convincing 3D effect on the screen without the need for special 3D glasses. The manufacturer did not disclose which matrix is used in the monitor. However, the 3D effect is achieved through a combination of advanced eye tracking technology, light field display (LFD) technology, which creates a three-dimensional image and allows you to view it from different angles without glasses, and lenticular lens technology on the front panel, which directs light rays at different angles, creating a sense of depth.
Samsung recommends using the Odyssey 3D (G90XF) with its proprietary Reality Hub software, which can convert the regular image of some games (First Berserker: Khazan, released May 28; Lies of P with the Overture update, released in the summer) into 3D, convert 2D movie images into 3D images on the fly, and adapt other content without DRM protection.
The Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED (G81SF) monitor uses a QD-OLED matrix with 4K resolution support and a refresh rate of 240 Hz. The new product is available in two versions: with a screen diagonal of 27 and 32 inches. Both displays are VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified and Glare Free (anti-glare technology) by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). The 27-inch model offers a pixel density of 166 PPI, which is one of the highest on the market. However, it should be noted that the latest models of Asus, MSI and Dell monitors have a similar pixel density, so Samsung is not a pioneer here.
The Samsung Odyssey G8 monitors feature a Pulsating Heat Pipe (PHP) cooling system, which Samsung claims is five times more efficient than cooling systems based on “standard” graphene sheets.
The Samsung Odyssey G9 (G91F) is an attempt to make ultra-wide OLED monitors more accessible to the masses. Compared to the original Odyssey G9, which was released in 2020 for around $1,500, the new G91F has simplified specifications to reduce the cost. Although the panel is still 49 inches diagonally and has a 1000R curvature radius, the new model supports a lower refresh rate of 144 Hz (up from 240 Hz) and is VESA DisplayHDR 600 certified (up from DisplayHDR 1000), meaning the new monitor has lower peak brightness. However, the G91F offers HDR10+ support, which was missing from the original model.
Finally, the professional Samsung ViewFinity S8 (S80UD) monitor features a 37-inch screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 4K resolution support. The new product is certified Intelligent Eye Care (eye protection) and complies with the Ergonomic Workspace Display concept (an ergonomic display that does not take up much space on the desk).
The monitor supports 90W charging of external devices via the USB Type-C connector and is equipped with a KVM switch that allows you to control two signal sources from a single set of keyboard and mouse.
