Samsung announced the development of augmented reality glasses together with Google

Samsung and Google are jointly developing augmented reality glasses. The head of Samsung’s mobile division, Tae Moon Roh (TM Roh), spoke about this in a conversation with Bloomberg.

Apart from the fact that the device is indeed in development, there are virtually no other details about this project. There are not even estimated release dates for the gadget. In a conversation with Bloomberg reporters, Tae Moon Roh only noted that Samsung and Google “will try to achieve the desired quality and readiness [of the product] as soon as possible.”

Samsung and Google are also collaborating on a mixed reality headset codenamed Project Moohan. The device was shown in December last year. It runs on the Android XR platform, recently announced by Google specifically for such headsets, as well as smart glasses. According to Samsung and Google, the Project Moohan headset will offer the full range of XR experiences, from fully immersive virtual reality to mixed or augmented reality. The Verge reports that Project Moohan is “a combination of the Meta✴ Quest 3 virtual reality headset and the Apple Vision Pro augmented reality headset.”

In turn, the glasses mentioned today should be a compact and convenient device for constant use, most likely limited only to augmented reality. Most likely, the glasses will also work on Android XR, since this platform is being created as a universal solution for all head-worn devices.
