Laptops with Ryzen 9000HX (Fire Range) chips, unveiled at CES 2025 in January, are expected to hit shelves in the first half of this year. The MSI Raider A18 HX is one such system. The Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor runs at up to 5.4 GHz and packs a total of 144 MB of cache, 128 MB of which is L3 cache.
Since the MSI Raider A18 HX also uses GeForce RTX 50-series discrete graphics, which Nvidia apparently hasn’t lifted its review ban yet, HotHardware only published some of the laptop’s CPU-intensive workloads.

It should be noted that the comparison also included a laptop based on the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H processor. The Ryzen 9 9955HX3D outperformed all competitors in two popular benchmarks – Cinebench 2024 and Geekbench 6. However, it lost in multi-threaded performance in the Geekbench test to the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor from the Strix Halo series. No other processor in the comparison was able to surpass the results of the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D.
HotHardware did not provide full technical specifications of the MSI Raider A18 HX, but it is known that the laptop will offer GeForce RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 graphics cards as a graphics subsystem. The total TDP of the system (CPU + GPU) is 260 W. The laptop is also equipped with a Mini-LED screen with support for 4K resolution and DDR5-5600 RAM. According to the source, in those workloads where it is necessary, the graphics card uses up to 175 W of power. However, he does not disclose other details, leaving them for a future full review.
According to VideoCardz, the MSI Raider A18 HX laptop with RTX 5090 graphics is available for pre-order on Amazon for $4,899, while the RTX 5080 version is priced at $3,899.
