A few days ago, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman wrote that Apple would officially unveil the new iPhone SE (possibly the iPhone 16E) this week. Now he says that the timing has shifted slightly and the announcement of Apple’s most affordable smartphone will take place next week.

According to Gurman, Apple will make a “smaller announcement” this week, possibly today. Then there will be some kind of announcement on Friday related to the Vision Pro mixed reality headset. Also expected in the next few weeks is an announcement of an updated MacBook Air with Apple’s M4 chip.

«The new iPhone SE is still on the horizon, with an announcement expected next week when the company holds a product briefing. A smaller announcement is expected tomorrow [today]. Apple will brief the press on Friday about an upcoming announcement related to the Vision Pro. The MacBook Air with the M4 chip will be unveiled in a few weeks,” Gurman said in a statement.

It should be noted that Gurman did not say anything about the event dedicated to the announcement of the new iPhone SE. This may mean that the company will limit itself to a press release and will not highlight the launch of its most affordable smartphone. According to available data, the appearance of the iPhone SE will be very similar to the iPhone 14. The smartphone will receive the same 6.06-inch OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution, a refresh rate of 60 Hz and a cutout for the front camera and Face ID.

The iPhone SE hardware should be based on the Apple A18 chip paired with 8GB of RAM, which will enable support for Apple Intelligence-based features. As for the price, the iPhone SE is rumored to retail for $499, which is $70 more than the previous-generation model released in 2022.
