Roblox’s audience is 60% under the age of 16. Its explosion in popularity in recent years has led to the platform attracting more players each month than the three leading console ecosystems combined.
As the audience grew, cases of malicious actions against minors also increased (from 3,000 in 2022 to 13,000 in 2023), prompting Roblox to introduce new restrictions and expand parental options.
Despite the measures taken, many parents are still concerned about the safety of their children on the platform. As reported by the Video Games Chronicle, Bazooki advises such guardians to simply not let their children into Roblox.
«”My first message to you, if you’re uncomfortable, is: don’t let your kids play Roblox. It sounds a little counterintuitive, but I’ve always trusted parents to make their own decisions,” Baszucki told the BBC.
Baszucki emphasized that Roblox takes security seriously: “We at the company believe that any bad incident, even if it’s just one, is one too many.”
Roblox debuted in 2006 and is currently available on PC (Microsoft Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, iOS, and Android. In 2024, 80 million people played on the platform every day, about 40% of whom were 13 years old or younger.
