Reviews of AMD X870 and X870E motherboards for Ryzen 9000 will appear on September 30

The opportunity to purchase new motherboards based on AMD 800 series chipsets, designed specifically for Ryzen 9000 processors, will appear only in a month, or even more. The good news is that the boards are ready and manufacturers are sending samples of new products to reviewers.

Photos of one of the new boards were shared by a Chinese blogger with the pseudonym Kenny. In particular, he received the Asus ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming WiFi motherboard for review. According to him, AMD allowed reviewers to publish their reviews of the new 800 series motherboards no earlier than September 30. They are not yet allowed to disclose any details about the new products.

«I finally received the new X870 series board designed for AMD Ryzen 9000 processors. According to AMD’s official timeline, as of August 20, 2024, I can only do an unboxing of the board and give only basic information about it. The board cannot be started. It will be possible to talk about the use of the board from September 30, 2024, so please do not ask anything about its performance until then,” the blogger said.

The official event dedicated to the new AMD 800 series motherboards took place last week. Asus was also noted on it. However, a number of manufacturers have planned to show their new products in mid-September, VideoCardz writes, citing its sources. For example, MSI is expected to unveil its models between the second and third weeks of September.

Although in general it is already clear what to expect from the new AMD X870E and X870 boards, one detail about them still remains unknown – the price. The new boards will have to compete with already well-proven models based on AMD X670 and B650 chipsets, which also support Ryzen 9000 processors. The new products differ only in support for faster DDR5 memory, a larger number of PCIe lanes and an updated design.
