Review of Ippon Innova T II 6K: high-power online UPS for server rooms and smart homes

The scope of application of UPS with double conversion topology is traditionally data centers and server rooms. However, private users sometimes also look for a systematic approach to the problem of uninterrupted power supply to important consumers. To do this, the UPS requires high power, reserve battery capacity and, no less important, the ability to integrate with home automation that has never been more popular. The Innova T II series of devices has all these qualities.

The hero of the review has a total power of 6 kVA and occupies a middle position in the Innova T II line. The power of the older version of the UPS (Innova T II 10K) is increased to 10 kVA, but Ippon also offers a related model, the Innova T II 6KL, which does not have built-in batteries and is designed to work with external battery modules (EBM).

Innova T II 6K, like other members of the series, is designed for single-phase connection to the mains supply and operates in a wide input voltage range from 110 to 275 V without switching to offline mode. The output voltage is adjustable from 220 to 240 V in 10 V steps.

The device is equipped with twenty lead-acid batteries with a capacity of 7 Ah, which, according to the manufacturer, provide 5 minutes of operation at maximum load and 15 minutes at 3 kVA load. If there is sufficient charge, a cold start of the UPS is acceptable. In addition, Innova T II can operate in an economical mode, when the inverter and battery are not used, if the input voltage parameters are within safe limits.
