Realme Releases GT 7 Pro Racing Edition Smartphone — Minus One Camera, Plus Bypass Charging and Fast Memory

Realme released the flagship GT 7 Pro smartphone in November last year, which we tested and our reviewer Alexander Babulin liked. Today, the company introduced the Racing Edition. Like the original model, the new product is equipped with a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, but it received a different display, faster permanent memory, as well as a slightly modified set of cameras and support for bypass charging.

The main set of cameras of the Realme GT 7 Pro consists of three modules: the main 50-megapixel sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and an 8-megapixel sensor for ultra-wide-angle shooting. The GT 7 Pro Racing Edition version received only two modules, losing the telephoto camera. The main camera of the GT 7 Pro Racing Edition is based on a different sensor – Sony IMX896 instead of IMX906. The front camera remained the same – 16-megapixel.

The Realme GT 7 Pro features a 6.78-inch Samsung Eco2 OLED Plus display with a resolution of 2780 × 1264 pixels, 120 percent DCI-P3 color space coverage, and an integrated ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. In turn, the GT 7 Pro Racing Edition received a screen of the same size and resolution, but with support for 100 percent DCI-P3 color space coverage and an optical fingerprint scanner. The peak brightness of the GT 7 Pro Racing Edition display is 6000 cd/m² instead of 6500 cd/m².

The GT 7 Pro Racing Edition uses faster UFS 4.1 storage instead of the original model’s UFS 4.0. The smartphone also supports a bypass charging function: when enabled, the device starts to draw power directly from the mains, bypassing the battery. The function is designed to extend battery life when the user is actively using the device, such as watching movies or playing games.

The Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition comes in gray and blue colors. The new product went on sale only in China and is available in memory configurations of 12/256 GB, 16/256 GB, 12/512 GB, and 16/512 GB. The manufacturer has priced them at 3,099 yuan ($425/€405), 3,399 yuan ($465/€445), 3,699 yuan ($505/€485), and 3,999 yuan ($550/€525), respectively. It is currently unknown whether Realme plans to release the device outside of China.
