Razer Stops Selling Gaming Laptops in the US Due to New Tariffs

Razer has stopped accepting orders for its new Blade 16 gaming laptop and other laptop models on its official online store in the United States. According to the Internet Archive, the company’s website had a laptop configurator available as early as April 1. But a day after the United States imposed new tariffs on imports from China, Taiwan and other countries, it disappeared.

The Verge previously reached out to Razer to ask whether the new import tariffs would affect its products. At the time, the company’s PR manager Andy Johnston said they had “no comment on the new tariffs at this time.”

The direct link to the Blade 16 laptop configurator on the US version of the site now leads to a page with a 404 error. Currently, only the product page is available on the US Razer site, and the “Pre-Order” button is now just a “Notify” button. Other Razer laptop models are also out of stock, with only accessories and stickers available for them.

The company also skipped the new laptop stand, which was supposed to go on sale today, according to the official press release. The “order” button on the product page now shows a “notify” button. The same stand is available for purchase in Razer’s Canadian store for $99.99 CAD ($69.99), where you can also find a configurator for the Blade 16. This and other Razer computers are also available in other countries.

In addition to Razer, Framework has also suspended sales of its laptops in the US. However, this only concerns the entry-level Laptop 13 model, sales of which were stopped on April 7.
