Raspberry Pi CM4 Extended Temperature Range Module Released

Raspberry Pi has announced the release of the Extended Temperature Compute Module 4 (CM4) series, designed for use in industrial and embedded devices operating in harsh environments.

The original Raspberry Pi CM4 solution debuted back in 2020. It has a 64-bit Broadcom BCM2711 processor with four Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) cores running at up to 1.5 GHz. The LPDDR4-3200 SDRAM can be 1, 2, 4, or 8 GB. The eMMC flash chip has a capacity of 8, 16, and 32 GB (the Lite version does not have built-in flash memory).

Standard versions of the Raspberry Pi CM4 can be used at temperatures from -20 to +85 °C. In the case of Extended Temperature modifications, the lower limit is -40 °C. Such variants are equipped with SDRAM and eMMC chips with an extended temperature range, manufactured by Samsung. All other components, as noted, have already been qualified for operation at temperatures down to -40 °C.

The Raspberry Pi CM4 Extended Temperature is available with 1, 2, and 4 GB of RAM, as well as with or without 16 GB of eMMC storage. Optional support for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac with 2.4/5 GHz frequency ranges and Bluetooth 5.0 (BLE) can be added. It is emphasized that the production of the products is planned until at least January 2034. The devices undergo comprehensive testing. The price starts at $30.
