This was reported by the Taiwanese publication TechNews, citing statements by representatives of Nanya Technology, which were made by Wednesday evening. A power failure caused some equipment to stop operating for twenty minutes, but no employees were injured. A full assessment of the damage will take some time, but Nanya now estimates that it ranged from $9.3 to $15.5 million. Not all Nanya production lines are equipped with backup power sources; only the most critical areas have such protection.

The Micron Technology enterprise, which is located in the same area of the island, was not affected by the power supply incident. This manufacturer reported only a short-term voltage drop at this enterprise; equipment operation did not stop as a result.
