Phison showed the impact of SSDs on the autonomy of laptops and stated that its E31T controller is the best here

At the CES 2025 technology show, Phison introduced a reference SSD based on the E31T controller, which showed impressive results in energy efficiency tests. The company talked about the impact of choosing an SSD on the battery life of laptops and shared data that shows how using energy-efficient SSDs can significantly extend device life.

Phison provided comparison charts showing the battery life and performance of a laptop with different PCIe 4.0 SSDs. The test, as reported by OC3D, included SSDs based on Phison E31T and E27T controllers, as well as the Competitor P drive, which, according to the unanimous opinion of observers, is the most energy-efficient SSD with PCIe 4.0. The results showed that the E31T SSD lasted 31 minutes longer than the Competitor P system, and Phison said the difference in battery life could be even greater when compared to less power-efficient M.2 SSDs.

The presented data clearly demonstrates that SSD power consumption has a direct impact on the battery life of a laptop, which generally forces us to reconsider the approach to SSD reviews, since energy efficiency is becoming a critical parameter for users.

CES 2025 also announced the launch of the new Crucial P510 SSD, based on the Phison E31T controller. The new drive is equipped with Micron G9 series NAND memory and allows for sequential read and write speeds of 11 GB/s. Additionally, Crucial says the P510 consumes 25% less power than the previous PCIe 5.0-based T705.

In addition to the Phison E31T, the high-performance Phison E28 controller for PCIe 5.0-based SSDs was introduced. It is noted that this solution is intended for users who value maximum operating speed, and is a logical continuation of the development of the Phison line of controllers.
