The founder and CEO of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov was arrested on Saturday evening at Le Bourget airport in France, TF1 TV channel reports. It is reported that Durov was arrested on a warrant issued following a preliminary investigation by French police.

Pavel Durov was arrested at around 8pm on Saturday as he stepped off his private jet at Le Bourget airport upon arrival from Azerbaijan. The 39-year-old businessman was reportedly accompanied by his bodyguard and a woman.

The arrest was made by gendarmes of the transport police (Gendarmerie des transports aériens, GTA). Pavel Durov was included in the list of wanted persons (fichier des personnes recherchées, FPR). Durov was subject to a warrant issued by the French National Criminal Investigation Department (L’OFMIN) based on some preliminary investigation.
