OWC Introduces Jellyfish B24 and S24 Data Warehouses for Content Creators

Other World Computing (OWC) has announced the Jellyfish B24 and Jellyfish S24 rackmount storage systems, designed primarily for content creators. Both new products allow for the connection of expansion modules, which allows for increasing capacity as needed.

The Jellyfish B24 HDD-based model is a simplified version of the powerful Jellyfish R24 solution, designed for small teams to work together. It supports 24 LFF drives for a total capacity of up to 576 TB. If necessary, up to four Jellyfish B24-E expansion modules can be connected via a mini-SAS interface, providing a total storage capacity of up to 2.8 PB.

The Jellyfish B24 is a 4U device. It uses an unnamed Intel Xeon Silver processor, working in tandem with 64 GB of DDR4 ECC RAM. The equipment includes a 2 TB caching SSD. There are two 1GbE ports, and if necessary, 10GbE (RJ45 / SFP+), 25GbE (QSFP), 50GbE (QSFP28) and 100GbE (QSFP28) network interfaces can be added. There are four USB 3.0 ports and a D-Sub connector. Power is provided by an 875 W redundant power supply. The dimensions of the storage system are 432 × 318 × 198 mm, weight is 15.9 kg without installed drives. The supported protocols are SMB, NFS, FTP and SSH.

The Jellyfish S24 variant, in turn, is designed for 24 SFF SSDs. When connecting the Jellyfish S24-E expansion module, you can get a total capacity of up to 736 TB based on SSDs. By adding four Jellyfish R24-E or B24-E modules, you can create a hybrid storage with a capacity of up to 2.3 PB. The storage system has two 10GbE RJ-45 ports and two 650 W hot-swappable power supplies. The form factor is 2U. The protocols mentioned are SMB, NFS, FTP and SSH.
