The new Oppo flagship is a direct successor to the Find N3, but surpasses it in all significant aspects – from technical specifications to appearance. When unfolded, the Find N5 is 4.21 mm thick, which is only slightly thicker than the USB Type-C interface. When folded, the thickness of the smartphone increases to 8.93 mm. All this makes the Find N5 the thinnest foldable smartphone among all devices of this type released on the market.

The new Oppo flagship can be compared in thickness with similar devices from other vendors. For example, the thickness of the previous leader, Honor Magic V3, was 4.35 mm when unfolded and 9.3 mm when folded. At the same time, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is 5.6 mm thick when unfolded and 12.1 mm when folded.

The developers were able to achieve such an impressive result thanks to the new Titanium Flexion Hinge, which is 26% smaller than the hinge used in the Find N3, but at the same time has increased rigidity. Oppo also used a complex 3D-printed panel as the base for the smartphone cover and a mixture of carbon fiber materials, due to which the Find N5 was able to reduce the weight to 229 g.

Oppo’s new flagship is not only the thinnest and lightest of its class, but also the first foldable smartphone to feature IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 water resistance. This means the device can withstand jets of hot water under pressure and short-term immersion in water. The frame of the smartphone is made of 7000-series aluminum, which is exceptionally strong and durable.

The new hinge mechanism also helped Oppo almost completely get rid of the crease that appears in the center of the screen when unfolded. The developers equipped the smartphone with an 8.12-inch LTPO OLED display with support for Full HD+ resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. The panel has an aspect ratio of 9.9:9 and provides a peak brightness of 2100 cd/m².

The 6.62-inch external OLED display supports Full HD+ resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. It uses a panel with an aspect ratio of 20.7:9 and a peak brightness of 2450 cd/m². Both screens support the proprietary Oppo Pen stylus, which is sold separately.

The Find N5’s main camera is based on a 50-megapixel LYT-700 sensor with an equivalent focal length of 21 mm and support for optical image stabilization. It is complemented by a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 periscope sensor with 3x optical zoom and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module with autofocus. 4K video recording at up to 60 frames per second is supported. In addition, there is an 8-megapixel wide-angle front camera (f / 2.4), which supports 4K shooting at up to 30 frames per second.

The Find N5 hardware is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor in combination with the Adreno 830 graphics accelerator. Buyers will be able to choose between versions of the device with 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a UFS 4.0 drive with a capacity of 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB. The battery life is provided by a 5600 mAh battery with support for fast wired SuperVOOC charging with a power of up to 80 W and wireless AirVOOC charging with a power of up to 50 W.

Oppo Find N5 will go on sale on February 28 and will be available in black, white and lilac color options. The latter option will be exclusive to the Chinese market. As for the retail price, the Find N5 starts at $1,240 in China. The starting price for Singapore is also known – $1,870.
