Oppo Find N5 to Get macOS Integration and Become the Thinnest Foldable Smartphone

Oppo is gearing up to officially launch its new Find N5 foldable smartphone. One of the key features of the new product will be advanced macOS integration, allowing Mac owners to use their smartphone as a remote desktop for their Mac.

As GSMArena reports, the new feature, implemented via Oppo Office Assistant, will allow Find N5 owners to access their Mac by simply laying the smartphone at a 90-degree angle, like a laptop. The top half of the screen will display the Mac desktop, while the bottom half will become a virtual keyboard. Users will be able to drag and drop files between devices in a single motion, as well as perform more complex tasks.

The Chinese manufacturer paid special attention to the strength of the design. The hinge is made of titanium, and the frame is made of aluminum. To demonstrate the reliability of the device, Oppo showed how Find N5 can withstand the weight of a 20-kilogram weight. In addition, the smartphone will receive water protection according to IPX6, IPX8 and IPX9 standards.

One of the most impressive details of the clamshell will be the location of the USB-C port, which is located as close as possible to the edge of the case, emphasizing the record-breaking thinness of the device. Oppo claims that while maintaining a full-size port, smartphones are unlikely to become even thinner.

The smartphone will be released in two main colors – black (Satin Black) and jade (Jade White). A Dusk Purple version with an artificial leather coating is also prepared for the Chinese market. At the same time, the Satin Black version has a particularly smooth surface. In terms of design, Find N5 retains the traditional elements of the series, including the silent mode switch in the upper right corner.

Interestingly, Apple is not involved in the development of this feature, as it traditionally limits the interaction of its devices with other platforms. The official launch of Oppo Find N5 is scheduled for February 20.
