Openai prepares Ai-gadget without a keyboard and screen, but this is not a phone or glasses

Sam Altman and the legendary designer Jony Ive have begun the development of AI, which can completely change the method of interaction between users with technology. Unlike the usual smartphones, the new device involves a minimum of text input and is more focused on voice control.

According to Android Authority, a development that is aimed at a radical transformation of how people communicate with computers will be carried out in conjunction with several companies, the names of which have not yet been named. According to Altman, artificial intelligence (AI) will require a “fundamental change in ways of interacting with computers”, and that in the future “the voice will become a means of user interface”. The new device will be focused on voice commands and promises to become a more intuitive and convenient tool for everyday use.

It is worth saying that such ideas have already been implemented earlier in other projects. For example, Humane Ai Pin and Rabbit R1 offered voice control along with additional functions such as a projector or compact screen. However, these devices were not widely used.

Despite the existence of many and gadgets of various formats-from wireless headphones to jewelry, such as pendants and necklaces-a new Openai device can get a completely unique configuration. According to experts, this will make it different from everything that is now on the market. In addition, Altman said that the company is developing its own microchips, which will optimize the performance and autonomy of this gadget. As for the terms, it is noted that even for the development of a prototype it will take several years, so there is no need to talk about a commercial issue yet.

Interestingly, the cooperation between Altman and the Eve began even earlier. Last year, in an interview for The New York Times, Johni Ive personally confirmed his involvement in the development of new AI, noting that it will not be like the phone. These details only enhance interest in the project, although specific details about design and functions have not yet been disclosed.

Meanwhile, smart glasses are becoming more and more popular. So, at the recent CES 2025 exhibition, new models supporting ChatGPT technologies were presented.
