OpenAI gave unlimited access to the AI video generator Sora, but not to everyone and not forever

During its 12-day OpenAI Shipmas event, which also featured the unveiling of AI-powered video generator Sora, the company’s CEO Sam Altman delighted ChatGPT Plus users by announcing unlimited access to Sora for the holidays.

According to the AI Tools Club, Altman explained the decision on his X/Twitter page, noting that OpenAI’s graphics processing unit (GPU) capacity was being used less in late December as people went on vacation. This allows you to reduce queues and provide users with unlimited opportunities to create videos. “Our GPUs clear up a bit at the end of December as people take a break from work, so we’re giving all Plus users unlimited access to Sora for the holidays! Enjoy being creative!” Altman said.

Let us remind you that the AI video generator for text queries Sora was launched about 10 days ago and became another successful OpenAI project, complementing the line of tools such as ChatGPT and DALL-E. The model is available on Sora.com for paid users of ChatGPT in the US and some other countries, and is very popular.

Later, OpenAI representative Rohan Sahai shared another piece of news. Not only regular users, but also teams using corporate accounts will now have access to Sora. In addition, Sahai said that the generator has improved the blend feature, and it is now possible to share generated videos with friends – even those who do not have an OpenAI account.
